My most recent LEGO build, a bird’s nest, revolves around a tan squiggly piece used in the nest itself. Check out more of the build and a look behind the scenes below!
The first part of this build was the nest, where the tan piece even exceeded my expectations! Coming up with a satisfactory solution for the baby bird was more difficult, and in the end, it doesn’t take more than a touch to topple the beak over, but at least it looks the part!
Although based off a lark, the bird is not quite a perfect copy… the many blending shades of bird feathers are difficult to capture in bricks.
The texture of the tree, while parts consuming, also makes it unquestionably my best large tree!
Behind the scenes, however, things aren’t quite so pretty. Not having an inexhaustible supply of pieces or of time, I tried to build only the parts I knew would be needed for the final shot.

A side view of the build reveals still more of the inner workings.

From the back, you get a front row view of the true hollow insides of this tree!

Attaching the leaves required some rather crazy techniques.

The nest was even worse, but I knew having it securely attached would be a life saver later on!
