What price can I expect?
Compare what you want to an official LEGO set, and then expect to pay two to three times as much. This is because I can’t get bricks as cheaply as LEGO can, and also, you’re paying the whole design cost.
Unless your concept is especially complicated, expect to pay for the parts and then double that for my work, plus the exact cost of shipping on top. If you are looking for an exact replica of something I’ve already built, I will probably be able to give you a slight discount.
What if I ask for instructions and source the parts myself?
Creating instructions involves a lot of extra work on my part. I have to design the custom model extra carefully to make sure it’s stable at all points of the build process. Then, I have to rebuild it in a digital software. So expect only an approximately 30% discount compared to the price of a pre-built model. On the other hand, you will save on shipping!
If instructions are just your thing, see if I’ve already designed instructions for something you’re interested in. These pre-designed instructions are much cheaper!
How soon can I expect my custom model?
The process is likely to take from one to two months, depending on the size of your request–and on my schedule at the moment (I do have a life!). After we’ve agreed on all the details (3-5 days) and you’ve paid the down payment (about 25% of the final price), you can expect the first look at your custom model in 2-3 weeks. If you need a few adjustments made, that will take another week or two. Once you’re happy with the model and have paid the rest of the price, I’ll ship the model to you and depending on your location and preferred shipping method, you’ll be getting it in a few days!
What if I change my mind after you’ve started?
Before I begin building, I’ll ask you for about 25% of the final price as a down payment. If you cancel at any point, I’ll take into account the time I’ve spent on your request so far and refund you the rest (if any). If for some reason I can’t satisfy you with the final model, I’ll refund your down payment if in my sole discretion your dissatisfaction is reasonable.
