Charleston Skyline

Charleston, South Carolina – a seaside town founded in 1670 – a historic location, witness to the first shots of the War Between the States – a bright, vibrant city with everything from magnolia gardens to retired Navy ships.

Background picture is from Wikimedia Commons and by Tom Key.

For this skyline, I built (from left to right):
Rainbow Row
Fort Sumter
USS Yorktown
Morris Island Lighthouse
Francis Marion Hotel
Magnolia Plantation

Rainbow Row is a street of colorful houses – easy to build, but also quite cute!

Fort Sumter was a little more complicated, but with a little work, a handful of pieces can achieve the fort’s unique shape!

The USS Yorktown was fun to build!

I felt like the Yorktown needed a touch of color to bring out its shapes, and so with a few stickers I was able to liven it up!

The Morris Lighthouse used several small pieces, but still gave the right shape!

Getting the columns for the Magnolia Plantation building was complicated, but in the end I was happy with the result!

Lastly, here’s a view of the back!
