Explore and defend the galaxy with the Space Exploration Tank 134071A!

This sphere is based on the basic Lowell sphere design. Since only a few sides are visible from the final angle, and I do have a limited amount of tan bricks, I decided to build about three and a half sides.
In order to be able to take pictures at an unusual angle, I rigged a bunch of technic pieces in the core and gave it a medium size stand.

Next came the tank… and I may have gone a little too large…
Yes, definitely too large!
So, on the suggestion of another builder from my LUG (LEGO Users Group), I scaled down the tank and kept the larger one as a magnified view!

Going behind the scenes again, I found a better counter-weight than a brick separator! With four heavy Chima Speedorz wheels, even my large tank could sit on the planet without falling.

And here’s a closer look at the inside. SNOT (Studs-Not-On-Top) bricks connect the sides at right angles and technic beams attach the stand in two places for a very sturdy connection.

This MOC was part of a collaboration with InnovaLUG. You can check out the rest of the spheres here and below is the poster with them all combined!
