LEGO Abandoned Gas Station

“Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.” (Habakkuk 3:17-18)

An abandoned gas station – something I’ve always wanted to build!  Seriously, I have.  I pass quite a few abandoned stations on my way to the grocery store every two weeks.  Granted, they don’t have quite as much random stuff lying around…

I wanted to create something with a high level of detail, so I ransacked three or four compartments of minifigure accessories and printed tiles to see what seemed to fit.  After a few days of work, I had the base pretty well completed!

The roof was the most challenging part, since it’s built mostly sideways but with a rim around the top and the bottom.

I tried equipping the inside with a few stray bits of stuff.

Around back there’s a bit of pink graffiti – first time I’ve used that heart tile!

I actually took a knife to the 1×2 tile so that the smartphone would look cracked!

See if you can spot all the minifigure arms in this build!

On the back wall is a big slab of graffiti – gid, which are the first three letters of my Flickr username.  (My initials are GMD, but… well, the i snuck in there and now I have to live with it.)

Not much to like about the back of the sign, but otherwise this is a nice angle!

Lastly, I put quite a few shots together for this collage:
